Book Title: Generation(s) – october 25, 2025
A stirring celebration of the people, places, and memories that define us—Generation(s) invites you to explore what truly connects us all.
Generation(s) blends poetry and prose into a tribute to heritage, memory, and the profound impact of storytelling. Curated by the Desert Writers Guild, this collection showcases the work of authors whose writing reflects the enduring influence of family, place, and personal transformation.
From the poetic last visit with a grandparent to the layered history of a desert homestead, these works invite readers into moments of emotional resonance. Whether reflecting on aging parents, childhood dreams, or the passage of time, these stories and poems offer a window into the soul of a generation—and the wisdom that transcends it.
This collection is for anyone who has ever looked back to understand where they’re going. Generation(s) is an ode to the lives that came before us and the stories we’re still writing today.

This story is a fictional account about me and my Native grandfather and a trip back to the Pueblo village to visit his (my?) people.

"Holding a yellowed document in his hands, my grandfather started to talk: “This paper was supposed to make me rich. The man from the Anaconda mine said there were minerals under the ground, and I would get one percent of any royalties for the rest of my life, but no one knew how long that would be.”
At 85 years old, my grandfather was remembering out loud as we drove east on Interstate 40 from Gallup, New Mexico to the Laguna Indian Pueblo and its village of Paguate. It was 1984, two years after the uranium mine closed, and I drove my grandfather to the “Rez” to do his periodic tribal registration for his benefits. He was still talking when we pulled on to old Route 66 heading north away from the freeway."
